MARIA BREEZE is an internationally renowned pop star. Like so many young actresses with dreams of making it big in Hollywood, LILY MILLER’S side hustle as a journalist for an online entertainment magazine became her main career. Although she’s never been able to completely let go of her aspirations for fame and fortune, this work provides just enough glamor to keep her going. A major fan of Maria’s, Lily’s devastated when she finds out about her accident, but when her boss sends her to interview the superstar for an exclusive one on one, she realizes that not only is she about to meet her idol, but this could be her big break too.
DANNY PATE is a successful artist in his own right, but most know him as Maria Breeze’s director boyfriend. He doesn’t mind the label; he’s in love with Maria, would do anything for her. He’s a talker, charismatic without arrogance, and is always spitballing his next great idea. Although he lives a celebrity life, he’s grounded, focused on his work. But unlike Maria, he couldn’t imagine not living his dream, so when Maria forces him to choose, Danny becomes an unexpected adversary.
Maria’s longtime friend and assistant ASHLEY walk a fine line between protective and resentful; she begrudges all tasks, but would do anything for Maria and in turn, Danny. She doesn’t like when outsiders work their way into her tightly preserved inner circle, and she’ll be the first to tell you that too. Her bark might be worse than her bite, but it’s hard to tell what she’s truly capable of if pushed too far.
Head of his own online magazine Off the Record, PETER’S obsessed with all things entertainment, will stop at nothing to get the story first. He doesn’t run a gossip mag- it’s legit journalism- but definitely celebrity culture-centrist. What drives him is unclear; it’s possible that he’s money and fame-hungry – thrives on success – but more likely it’s his overblown ego that keeps him going.
More than just Maria’s private chef, COLIN is a trusted member of the Breeze posse. But he’s also gossip with a flair for dramatics. He gleefully fuels Ashley’s suspicions of outsider intentions and like the devil on her shoulder, has no qualms about encouraging her to stir up trouble under the guise of “you get what you deserve.” He’s devious – not malicious – but is definitely a friend to have and an enemy to keep closer.
Eager to the point of annoying, MARCUS will do anything for his gold stars stickers. He’s entitled, unreserved works as an assistant at Peter’s online magazine. He’s in love with the world of celebrity as much as he is with himself. His motivations are always questionable but he’s not unscrupulous. He’s just a Gen Z’s.
